Origin of the purest water
Varena nature is unique of its forests, but still more unique for what lies beneath it. Dense mat of moss and continental glacial sand dunes protect the primordial purity of the water. Neptūnas natural mineral water extracted in this unique location is incredibly pure and features extremely low dissolved mineral content. With only 136 mg/l of mineralization, Neptunas is the purest natural mineral water in Lithuania.
Woodlands
The world has long known that natural mineral water extracted in mountains and forests is the purest. Many hectares of Varena woodlands as nothing else protects the water beneath the land. Special protection is guaranteed by the forest area fenced around the Neptunas extraction site and maintained according to EU standards.
Moss mat
Sands brought by glacier over time was overgrown with dense and homogeneous small vegetation and moss cover. This is another protective antibacterial coating that protects the Neptunas ground water in the depth of the earth.
Continental dunes
Continental dunes
During the last ice age, when glaciers were covering Lithuania, their edge was at the current Varena territory. Moving, they pushed massive amounts of sand. When the glaciers began to melt and retreat, sand beds remained in the same place, forming continental dunes – land-based sand. These dunes in particular determined this unique nature of Varena.
